China bank lending totals $46.9 billion in August

HONG KONG (MarketWatch) — The state-run Shanghai Securities News reported Wednesday Chinese banks issued around 320 billion yuan ($46.9 billion) in new loans in August. The lending was the lowest-monthly figure this year, trailing expectations of 400 billion yuan to 500 billion yuan. Chinese banks extended 356 billion yuan in new lending in July, itself an easing from the monthly average of 1 trillion yuan in the first six months of the year
